M.V.D Presents:The Official NeYo Pre Party this Thurs: The Bank (Rosebank)

MVD does it BIG...

Yes ladies and gentlemen, we are the official hosts of
The OFFICIAL NEYO Pre Party. A definite MUST DO!

Shaffer Chimere Smith (born on October 18, 1982 in Camden, Arkansas but raised in Las Vegas, Nevada) is an American R&B singer-songwriter. He is best known by his stage name, Ne-Yo. He is currently signed to Def Jam Records. He was previously best known for co-writing Mario's 2004 number one hit, "Let Me Love You", before he began a recording career of his own in 2005. Ne-Yo's debut album, In My Own Words, was released in early 2006 and debuted at number one on The Billboard 200 selling 301,000 copies in the first week. During the same period, Ne-Yo's second single, "So Sick", (produced by Stargate) became the number one song on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. He is of African-American, Puerto Rican, and Chinese descent.

While still in high school, Ne-Yo belonged to R&B group Envy, going by the stage-name GoGo. Since the group's disbanding in 2000, Ne-Yo had substantive success as a songwriter, co-authoring songs for artists such as Mary J. Blige, Ruben Studdard, Marques Houston, Faith Evans, Christina Milian, B2K, Nivea, Tyrese, Rihanna, Jamie Foxx and Heather Headley. After getting out of a record deal with Columbia Records that saw no released material, Ne-Yo decided to remain as a songwriter, but a close friend introduced him to L.A. Reid, who signed Ne-Yo on the spot to Def Jam Records. The singer's nickname was given to him by a friend (Shawn Milligan), who stated that the singer could 'see' music like Keanu Reeves's "Neo" character could see the Matrix in The Matrix film trilogy. Ne-Yo added the "-Yo" to match rap culture. In the May Vibe Magazine it states that Ne-Yo has a Chinese grandfather. Ne-Yo said that growing up his father 'Wiley' would abuse his mother. The singer also has a son named Chimere.

Def Jam released "Stay", featuring Peedi Crakk, as Ne-Yo's debut single in 2005, and Ne-Yo's debut album In My Own Words, Ne-Yo's debut album was released in February 2006. "Stay" was well-received by the urban community, reaching number 36 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks, but failed to chart on the Billboard Hot 100. The album's second single, "So Sick", was a larger success, reaching number-one on the Hot 100 and the Pop 100, as well as the official UK chart.

More recently, Ne-Yo's writing credits can be found on Jamie Foxx and Mary J. Blige's latest albums, Unpredictable and The Breakthrough (also the first song at The Breakthrough features Mary J. Blige sampling him). He can also be heard singing the choruses to Ghostface's lead single, "Back Like That", from his fifth solo album Fishscale, and Remy Ma's "Feels So Good" from her recently released album There's Something About Remy: Based on a True Story. He also wrote Rihanna's second single off A Girl Like Me, "Unfaithful". Ne-Yo is also featured on a remix of Busta Rhymes's "Touch It". Futhermore he is currently working on tracks with Mario, Fantasia, Britney Spears and Beyoncé and on the soundtrack for the upcoming film Steppin' Up: Save the Last Dance 2, in which he will make an appearance.

This man is obviously very talented.

About MVD...

Steel sharpening steel. Great minds thinking alike.

Whatever way you want it, the allying of some of South Africa’s most original and influential Hip-hop DJs represents a historical and long-awaited next-step in SA Hip-hop and Urban culture- the full realisation and maximizing of the commercial potential of the lifestyle.

For some time the “Hip-Hop Rand”- money that can be derived directly from marketing to this urban market- has remained elusive to most marketers.
That’s until now.

DJ Milkshake, DJ Vigilante and DJ Dimplez answering to The Most Valuable DJs, or MVD, from now on- aim to serve at the perfect vehicle for any marketer to enter this lucrative market.

By their mere credibility and history any brand that associates with “MVD” will gain precious and unreserved permission to speak to this thriving and ever asprational market- directly.
The same way the impact of “Moet” being mentioned in a song playing at a club in Atlanta can be felt in a cellar in France- your brand can also get the advantage.

MVD is…

DJ Milkshake, one of only a handful of DJs that can lay claim to having a coveted permanent slot on The Fresh Drive Show on 5Fm.
Not any easy task, you can ask a million other demo-always-in-hand DJs in S.A.

A creator of the Wits DJ Society he later went on to become a popular DJ on campus.
His talents when playing are not only confirmed to R&B and Hip hop music, he’s flexible enough to keep the party going regardless of musical genre.
With a C.V that reads like a bedroom DJ’s wet-dream he has been there and done that- Playing with the best of them, and when duty calls, at the worst places…

Like they say, “It does what it says on the tin!”
Vigilante has taken the entertaining of the hip hop masses into his own hands.
With a career that only started in 2007, Vigilante has already played with such dance music legends as Glen Lewis, Euphonik, Black Coffee and Naked DJ.

When drive time radio host, DJ Fresh invited him to play on the career-making Fresh Drive Ultimix on 5FM, he replied aptly by playing a set that put the entire industry on notice.
Currently serving as the official Glitzgang DJ- consisting of Maggz, Morale, Sean Pages and L-tido, his next project is a series of mixtapes starting with one that features a member of the gang, Maggz. He currently is a resident dj on one of the biggest drive time shows in South Africa, Metro Fm ‘The Avenue’ with Glen and Unathi.

Like any worthwhile DJ, DJ Dimplez started his career on the dance-floor, attending infamous Jozi party-till-you-break-dawn venues like Reality and 115.
In 2004 he went about acquiring his own equipment and subsequently joined “Wits DJ Society”- a members’ only DJ club.

Steadily he worked himself from a roomful of peers to millions of people who could hear him playing on T-Bo Touch’s weekly Hip hop show on MetroFm.
But, even more was more to come in 2008? he founded the most famed and successful Hip Hop event in Jozi- Pop Bottles.
Pop Bottles has placed itself in the hearts of many in South Africa, will remain to be ‘The where were you’ event for years to come in the far future as it’s still running very successively two years later.

If it’s to be done- it’s now.
And if it’s to be done properly it will be by these guys.
MVD has the experience, creativity, and professionalism to generate a force that will work with your brand to collectively create something that’s stronger and more effective like… steel sharpening steel!!
